The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald would be a
favorite of mine from high school.
Although, not well versed in the roaring 20’s lifestyle, I found myself
immersed within the story of a tragic love affair. A woman raised with money,
married into money, and essentially obsessed with a stable lifestyle surrounded
by money, who falls in love with an army boy who has no wealth to speak of. His
lasting obsession with her built him an empire. That same empire would attract
her but in the end, it was their obsessive love and escapism that led Gatsby to
his death. A work of art!
